The Finch West LRT is a new milestone for our community!
The new Finch West LRT is a long-awaited light rail transit line that will run along Finch Avenue West, connecting communities from Finch West Station at Keele and Finch to Humber College.
First announced more than a decade ago, the project was designed to bring faster, more reliable transit to our area. The journey to completion has not been easy. Our community endured years of construction, and increased traffic due to road closures while waiting for this line to be built, showing our patience and resilience throughout the process.
In the leadup to the official opening I called on the Minister of Transportation to make the Finch West LRT free on opening day.
I was proud to share that our calls have been answered. The TTC, City of Toronto, and the Province have come together to ensure that opening day on this long-awaited line will be free for everyone.
This is exciting news for our community.
I am glad that all levels of government were able to reach an agreement that gives back to the community.
As your MPP, I will continue working to fight for public transit that people can rely on. Transit should be affordable, accessible, and dependable, and this announcement is a step in the right direction.
