Whereas Ontarians deserve to be treated fairly and honestly by business in both physical and online marketplaces; and
Whereas many consumers face price-gouging, misleading or false advertising, surveillance pricing tactics and other predatory business practices; and
Whereas Ontarians deserve real enforcement to stop these bad business practices and protect consumers; and
Whereas Ontario lacks a Consumer Watchdog organization that would proactively protect consumers by investigating bad businesses and promote consumer rights;
Therefore be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly of Ontario support the creation of an independent Consumer Watchdog to protect consumers, investigate bad actors, enforce penalties and restore consumer confidence.
